What if humans treat and slaughter the
animals humanely?
Regardless of how well the animals are treated, I believe that it
is wrong, even in principle, to kill animals for food when it is
not necessary for our survival.
I personally had a very large number of family members who died in the Holocaust. One of the reasons concentration camps were invented was to make the killing process more humane, as opposed to firing squads. In the case of firing squads, the bullets did not necessarily make an instant kill and many people died slowly and painfully, as bodies were piled on top of each other, some living and some dead. By contrast the poison gas of a concentration camp, by comparison, killed people much more quickly and painlessly. Nevertheless, we are still not going to give the "Humanitarian of the Year" award to the person that invented concentration camps.
There is no such thing as a humane concentration camp and there is absolutely no such thing as a humane slaughter house.
